Event Marketing Reporting: Measure Bookings, Not Just Activity

A useful marketing report helps you decide where to invest next. For a wedding or event company, that means connecting channel activity to qualified conversations, bookings and the capacity you want to sell.

Keep activity and business outcomes separate

Posts published, ad impressions and website visits show that work reached an audience. They do not establish whether the right clients took the next step. Keep delivery reporting, channel measures and booking outcomes visible as distinct parts of the review.

For a venue, review qualified tour requests, attended tours and confirmed bookings. For a caterer, review suitable event leads, proposals and wins. Choose definitions with the sales team so everyone reports the same event in the same way.

Use the economics that matter to the business

Track booking value alongside the costs of delivery. A high-value event may use scarce capacity or require enough additional labor to change its contribution. Consider service type, event date and delivery demands when judging which leads the business should seek.

Where the records support it, review marketing investment per qualified lead and per acquired client. Include the costs that belong in your chosen calculation and label the method consistently. A useful trend requires comparable inputs, not a changing formula every month.

Allow for attribution limits

A client may see social content, hear about the business from a planner and later search for the brand. Digital tracking may show only part of that journey. Add a simple source question to the sales process and keep the answer with the lead.

Review patterns across the available evidence rather than claiming every booking came from the last tracked click. Keep date ranges and sales-cycle differences visible. A campaign launched recently should not be compared with a fully matured booking cohort without explanation.

End the meeting with decisions

Choose a small set of actions: keep the strongest campaign, improve a weak landing page, review an unsuitable audience or resolve a sales handoff. Give each action an owner and a review date. The report should reduce uncertainty about the next step.

BMG’s Outsourced CMO plan includes pipeline, budget and lead-to-booking review using the information you share. Bring accurate sales outcomes to the conversation so marketing decisions can reflect the business, rather than the numbers that happen to be easiest to count.
